After finishing The Hobbit, I was recommended the novel The Woods by Harlan Coben and started it shortly after. I am not peticularly far into this novel yet, but it has an interesting mystery plot. The main character Paul Copeland had lost his sister, Camille, 20 years ago; when she was killed at a summer camp. He is watching his daughter, Greta, walk on a balance beam when two shady looking men come into the room and ask him to leave with them. These men are detectives, who have just found a dead man who had contacts to him in his pocket. The dectectives take Paul to try and identify the body. While at the morgue Paul recognizes a scar on the man's body and has a quick flashback. He is able to identify the man as the guy who was reported missing with his sister and thought to be dead 20 years ago...

The Hobbit --> The Woods
I have recently just finshed the novel, The Hobbit. In my last post I ended by talking about how the groups escaped from the spiders while in the forest. When they reach the mountain Bilbo volunteers to lead the way to Smaug. Bilbo steals from Smaug and makes him angry. Smaug flies out of the moauntain and starts attacking the town at the bottom of the mountain. The people in town slay Smaug, which leads the people in the town to attack Bilbo and the dwarves. Bilbo puts himself in danger to stop a war between the humans/elves and dwarves, by betraying the dwarves and giving the humans a special stone. His actions are justified by Gandalf when he returns, and the novel ends with peace between the humans, elves, and dwarves. After all of these experiences Bilbo is no longer a weak, terrified hobbit.

Nice work here Chris. I would like to hear your thoughts on The Woods though rather than just a summary. What do you think about the characters, events, writing style, etc?
