Next

Though The Hobbit is a good novel, I lost my book for a few days. I ended my last post right after the eagles saved Gandalf and the group from the golbins. After their escape from the goblins they realize the only way to the Lonely Mountain is through Mirkwood. On their way there Gandalf leads them to the house of Beorn. Beorn is a half-man, half-bear creature who has a house Mirkwood. He tells his visiters that the Wargs and goblins have assembled in order to find the people who killed their leader. He tells them the only safe way through Mirkwood is the elf path. Beorn provides the group with food and supplies. Gandalf tells the group that he has to leave and then disappears. While traveling they come to a stream that Beorn had warned them not to touch. They cross it using a boat, but Bombur, falls in and is put to sleep and the group is forced to carry him. One night they all see lights flickering, leave the path, and get separated. Bilbo decides to go to sleep against a tree and wakes up he is tied up with thread and sees a huge spider coming towards him. He pulls his sword, cuts the thread, and slays the spider. He later gives the swords the nickname “Sting”. He then hears the dwarves yelling and finds them also tied up by other spiders. Bilbo now puts on the ring and starts to throw rocks at the spiders, but since he is wearing the ring they cannot find him. After distracting the spiders he returns to the dwarves and cuts them down. They are all weak from the poison from the spiders and they run to a clearing in the woods and suddenly the spiders retreat. They learn that where they retreated to is used by the elves. While planning their next move they all realize that Thorin is missing... Each chapter gets better than the last and there are twists and turns on almost every page.

  1. This book sounds very complicated, I don't think I would like this book. But I'm glad that you enjoy your book.

  2. This sounds like a very adventurous book. I'm not sure if I would like this book either because it seems more of something you would read as a requirement, but who knows a book about goblins may be more interesting than I thought.
