TH3 H0BBIT
In class we have started to read a book of our choice. I feel that it is a good thing to start each class with time for a free read because it give people who normally don't read, time to read and it eases everyone into the class for that day. I have chosen The Hobbit, mainly because it was one of the only books in my house that sounded half interesting and my brother had told me it was a great book. In The Hobbit , Gandalf has come back to reunite and talk with his old friend Bilbo Baggins. Gandalf asks Bilbo to go on an adventure and to think about it . The next day twelve dwarves and Gandalf show up at Bilbo's hole, Gandalf reveals that they will be going to Lonely Mountain to slay Smaug the dragon and to reclaim the dwarves treasure. Bilbo is hesitant at first, but decides to leave and travel with the dwarves. After a couple of days, Bilbo is starting to question his decision to go on the trip. One night the dwarves and Bilbo stop to camp in the rain, with little food. That night they stumble upon three trolls, with fire and food...

ReplyDeleteI have never read the novel; however, they did this as the school play when I was in eighth grade at FMS, so I do know the storyline. It's funny because I don't really like sci-fi/fantasy but I loved this play. I think one of the reasons I don't like this genre is because it's so unrealistic to me & there seems to be no "rules" that authors have to follow. It seems they could literally have anything happen at anytime & it would be possible/feasible. What do you think about this genre? Do you like it? Is so, why? Do you understand what I mean about having no constraints? Do you agree with me/disagree. Also, let me know exactly what part you are at. Be more specific in your summary.
